AFP/File ISLAMABAD: The capital saw an increase in the Covid-19 positivity ratio as it jumped to 7.1pc on Friday whereas the Delta variant has also been detected in patients who were diagnosed with the disease. Additional Deputy Commissioner (East) Babar Sahib Din when contacted, confirmed that the Delta variant was traced among positive cases, however, the total number of people who contracted this variant is still not known.

ISLAMABAD: The number of Covid-19 cases and the positivity rate once again increased in the capital on Tuesday. In the last 24 hours, 1,519 tests were conducted and 79 people were found infected with the positivity rate of 5.2pc. On Monday, 1,771 tests had been conducted and the positivity rate was 2.99pc.Out of the total 79 cases, 22 were reported in the age group of 30-39, 14 in 0-9, 12 in 20-29, nine in 40-49, eight in 10-19, seven in 50-59, four in 60-69 and three in 70-79. Nine cases were reported from Loi Bher, six from G-9, five each from Bhara Kahu, F-10, four each from F-11, Rawat, three each from Tarlai, G-11, F-8, Sohan, Alipur, two each from I-8, G-13, F-6 and one each from G-10, Khanna, G-6, I-10, G-7, Chak Shahzad, F-7, I-9, Koral, Chirrah, G-12 and H-8.

Officials said a woman died of the disease while 53 new cases were reported. The deceased was in the age group of 80-89 and a resident of G-6. During the last 24 hours, 1,771 tests were conducted and the positivity rate remained 2.99 per cent. On Sunday, 71 people had tested positive out of 1,862 tests with the positivity rate of 3.81pc. Moreover, 28 patients recovered from the virus on Monday. APP adds: As many as 21 people tested positive in the district of Rawalpindi. Eight of the new cases were reported from Rawal Town, four from Potohar Town, six from Rawalpindi Cantonment, two from Attock, and one from Taxila.
