Facebook converts Menlo Park headquarters into vaccination site

Facebook Inc has said that it is converting a part of its Menlo Park headquarters into a vaccination site.
Reuters reports that the company would be joining the government effort to speed up the vaccination drive in the United States.
To drive the initiative, the company said it is teaming up with Ravenswood Family Health Centre.
According to its Chief Operating Officer, Sheryl Sandberg, the move will support vaccination efforts in four of California’s hardest hit regions.
“We’re also teaming up with the State of California and local nonprofits to support mobile vaccination clinics in four of the state’s hardest hit regions,” Sandberg wrote in a post Friday.
But what’s become even more irregular and unpredictable is the vaccine supply.
Congressman Ro Khanna came to the vaccination site as Santa Clara County workers and volunteers are in the midst of a strange dilemma, an expected surge of more people seeking vaccine shots while getting less vaccine overall.
“My understanding and belief is were going to see many more shots come in the next two to three weeks. It was a shortage situation two to three weeks ago but the situation is improving,” he said.
But the congressman acknowledges the Johnson and Johnson shortage is severe. Santa Clara County received more than 9,000 Johnson & Johnson shots last week and it will get less than 3,000 this time around.
Facebook is a large internet company and it is expected to offer some community services. Today, Facebook’s chief operating officer (COO), Sheryl Sandberg, announced that starting this Saturday, the company will divide its Menlo Park, California headquarters. It will use some part as a public vaccination point for the new coronavirus.
According to a Facebook spokesperson, through this effort, the company hopes to help about 10,000 people get vaccines within a few weeks. According to reports, the internet giant will launch a vaccine in cooperation with Ravenswood Family Health Network. In addition, it will also cooperate with cities such as East Palo Alto and Menlo Park to provide shuttle services for vaccine appointments.
