But it wasn’t all doom and gloom. The good news is that as the country began to open up again, the market saw increased demand along with rising property values in many states. “Home sales in November took a marginal step back, but sales for all of 2020 are already on pace to surpass (the previous year’s) levels,” said Lawrence Yun, National Association of Realtors chief economist in a year-end press release. “Given the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s amazing that the housing sector is outperforming expectations.”
