La Ronge Mayor Colin Ratushniak said the municipality is prioritizing water treatment upgrades over the next two years to maintain drinking water quality in the town.
“If we look at our wastewater treatment plants, I think that we’re at a point where we need a full replacement of that. We need to look into infrastructure for that, because water is a necessity to human life and it’s something that it’s something that we don’t want to be playing with,” Ratushniak said.

Boil water advisory in Fond du Lac may soon be lifted
A recommendation has been put forth to the leadership of the Fond du Lac Denesuline First Nation to have the boil water advisory rescinded.
An Environmental Health Officer with the Prince Albert Grand Council says the water quality is now safe for human consumption.
The boil water advisory has been in place since Dec. 7, following the failure of the well pump.
The advisory came at a time when that community was dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak.
The Canadian Rangers were deployed there to assist the community in hauling water and other needed services.
Federal court judge dismisses application to stop Fond du Lac election
A federal court judge has dismissed an application for an interim injunction to stop the Fond du Lac Denesuline First Nation election.
In a decision on Friday, Justice Sebastian Grammond said there was no immediate urgency that would validate granting the injunction and the applicants should take any grievances they may have to the First Nation’s election appeal board tribunal.
The election for chief and council has already been delayed numerous times since the current administration’s term expired in September.
The vote was originally scheduled for Oct. 16, then was rescheduled for Nov. 19 and then rescheduled again for last Friday only to be cancelled yet again.
