Close links: the family established the Roux Scholarship in Ealing UNIVERSITY leaders in Ealing have paid tribute to chef Albert Roux, an honorary professor who spread his passion for food to hundreds of students. Roux – a world renowned chef and restaurateur who brought French cooking to the UK with his brother Michel – died this week, aged 85. As well as being an honorary graduate of UWL’s London Geller College of Hospitality and Tourism, he features on its ‘wall of fame’ of inspirational chefs. James Edmunds, dean of the college, said: “This is incredibly sad news for all of us at UWL. It has been a real honour and privilege to be involved with Albert and the family over the years, both in the industry and at the university.”

Ditching the traditional turkey, a team from the University of West London starred in the final part of ITV’s How to Spend It Well at Christmas on Tuesday. The eight foodies turned restaurant critics to cast their votes on the taste, texture and appeal of vegetarian and fish-based dishes to enjoy at Christmas. The episode, watched by three million, was the last of a three-part series.
