Lubbock ISD board names new police chief, 2 principals

The Lubbock ISD Board of Trustees approved the recommendations of an appointment to the district’s administrative cabinet and two principal positions during its May board meeting on Thursday.
Ramon Mendoza was selected Chief of Police of the Lubbock ISD Police Department. He is currently Deputy Chief of Police for the Lubbock Police Department. He began his more than 24-year career in law enforcement in 1997 with Lubbock PD, and has served as a patrol corporal/officer, sergeant, lieutenant, and captain before being elevated to deputy chief.
He has extensive administrative experience as commander of a patrol division, criminal investigation division, family crimes, information services, and traffic unit.

Lubbock’s newest traffic signal, located at the intersection of 4th Street and Knoxville Avenue, has been activated today, Monday, May 24th, 2021. The City of Lubbock announced this exciting update about the signal’s activation last Friday, May 21st.
The City of Lubbock Traffic Operations department was on site working hard on the new project. The department encouraged drivers to slow down and remain attentive while in the work zones in order to maintain a safe environment for everyone on the road.

Having spent his entire career in the Midland and Odessa school systems, James Lewallen said he and his wife have long talked about moving to a smaller community and smaller school.
They will be doing so this summer, as he has been hired to become the new principal at Lamesa High School.
He was one of two new administrators announced by Lamesa Superintendent during Tuesday evening’s school board meeting.
Lewallen will take over the position being vacated by Jerry Jerabek, who announced earlier this year he would be joining the staff at Lubbock Christian University after serving as high school principal here the .
