Police seek information in 2017 fatal hit-and-run By KCBD Staff Published: Apr. 29, 2021 at 6:38 PM CDT|Updated: Apr. 29, 2021 at 12:59 PM CDT Share on Facebook Share on LinkedIn LUBBOCK, Texas (NEWS RELEASE) - The Lubbock Police Department Major Crash Investigation Unit is seeking the public’s help in the continued investigation of a 2017 fatal hit and run. On March 24, 2017, Lubbock Police officers responded to a major crash in the 400 block of Slide Road. Officers arrived on scene and found 24-year-old Alejandro Hernandez in the roadway with severe injuries. Hernandez was transported to University Medical Center, and died on March 27, 2017. The initial investigation indicated Hernandez was attempting to cross Slide Road on foot when a vehicle traveling northbound struck him. As the investigation continued, officers were able to identify a potential suspect vehicle, a red 2011 Dodge Durango. A motorcycle, driven by 45-year-old David Greenwood, was traveling southbound in the 3500 block of Avenue Q when an LPD officer was traveling northbound and initiated a stop for a traffic violation. The vehicle being stopped turned west across Avenue Q into an alleyway, with the officer behind him making the same turn. When the officer was in the process of turning, the motorcycle struck the patrol vehicle.

Man killed in crash involving tractor-trailer in East Lubbock Staff reports Lubbock police on Wednesday confirmed that a person whose vehicle was struck by a tractor-trailer the day before in East Lubbock later died in hospital. The Lubbock Police Department Major Crash Investigation Unit is investigating the Tuesday morning collision at the intersection of East 19th Street and Canyon Lake Drive. Lubbock Police were called to the intersection at 7:55 a.m. April 13 for reports of a collision with injuries. Upon arrival, officers located 57-year-old Shelby Mann with what were initially considered moderate injuries. He was taken to Covenant Medical Center via ambulance. He was pronounced deceased two hours later, prompting the MCIU Investigation, according to a statement from Lubbock police.
