MARK MARONEY Special to The Express
WILLIAMSPORT Lycoming Bakery employees who lost their jobs when the bread-making business closed operations abruptly earlier this week may be in luck.
A local businessman, Matt Cowden, said he and a business partner, Larry Allison, are prepared to purchase the bakery, which was established in 1928.
Cowden said he was in final ownership transfer with current owner Jeff Hoyt.
“I will run the day-to-day business,” he said.
Cowden previously owned the bakery for 10 years before he sold it to Hoyt.
Cowden said he and Allison planned to get it going again.
Employees were told to file for unemployment in the interim until the sale is finalized.
