OXFORD ⢠A Lowndes County man has been arrested after a domestic incident in west Oxford escalated to kidnapping.
The Oxford Police Department responded May 8 to the 100 block of Eagle Point Loop for a reported domestic disturbance. A caller told the 911 dispatcher that a person inside the residence was being held against their will.
A police negotiator was called to the scene and attempted to make contact but was unable to hold consistent communications. After two hours of trying resolve the situation peacefully, officers forced their way into the residence and brought the victim to safety. A police spokesman said the victim was unharmed.
OXFORDâ¢- An Oxford man was arrested Tuesday, accused of stealing from a business while he was on the job.
Oxford police responded May 4 to the Dollar General on Old Sardis Road in reference to an on-duty employee stealing merchandise. The responding officers spoke to the store manager and to the employee, Ellis Walker, 24, of Oxford.
Officers recovered the store merchandise, totaling over $1,900, from Walkerâs vehicle and returned it to the store. Walker was subsequently arrested without incident and charged with embezzlement.
During his initial appearance in Lafayette County Justice Court, bond was set at $1,000.

OXFORD, Miss. (WLBT) - A Jackson man has been charged with possession of stolen property.
According to the Oxford Police Department, Dominique Price, 29, stole an all-terrain vehicle in Jackson and sought to sell the ATV in Oxford.
Investigators located Price, along with the vehicle, and arrested him. A Lafayette County Justice Court judge set a $2,500 bond for him.

OXFORD ⢠A Jackson man has been charged by Oxford police after trying to sell a stolen all-terrain vehicle.
Oxford police learned April 13 that an ATV stolen in Jackson was being sold in Oxford. Investigators say they were able to locate the individual selling the stolen vehicle and identified him as Dominique Price, 29, of Jackson.
According to law enforcement officials, Price had the stolen ATV in his possession at the time of his arrest by Oxford Police Department patrol officers, who were assisted by Lafayette County deputy sheriffs.
Price was charged with possession of stolen property. His bond was set at $2,500 by a Lafayette County Justice Court judge.

OXFORD, Miss. (WCBI) - Two men are facing charges for allegedly using a minor to sell sex in Oxford.
Police said a shots fired call near the Super 8 Motel on March 30 lead to the prostitution investigation.
Once on scene, officers made contact with a juvenile female, as well as 18-year-old Bailey Clayton Prince of Oxford, and 18-year-old Dorian Howell of Oxford.
After investigating, OPD learned that the juvenile female was allegedly being prostituted with the help of Prince and Howell.
