Lafayette Police are investigating three separate weekend shootings, including one that left a man dead.
Police were called at about 2 p.m. Sunday to shots fired in the 100 block of Ambroise Street, which is near North Pierce Street. When they arrived, officers found 19-year-old Nakia Solomon, who had been shot, department spokesperson Sr. Cpl. Bridgette Dugas said in a release.
The Breaux Bridge man was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Officers also were called at about 1 p.m. Sunday at the 100 block of Hebert Road, which is near Dulles Drive in west Lafayette. Officers were told a man had been shot by an unknown person.
Jacolby Nunez was charged with first-degree murder.
Abbeville police allege 32-year-old Nunez shot James Joseph Jr. on April 9 in the 900 block of East Lafayette Street. Joseph died as a result of the shooting, department spokesperson Lt. Jonathan Touchet said in a release.
Police also have charged Jordan Matthews, of Abbeville, with principal to second-degree murder.
The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.
