Lafayette Hospitality Job Fair scheduled for May 18

LAFAYETTE, La. â In response to growing industry needs, the Lafayette Economic Development Authority, the Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission, and the Cajundome will host the Lafayette Hospitality Job Fair on Tuesday, May 18. The event will take place from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Cajundome Convention Center, 444 Cajundome Blvd.
âIt is encouraging that the hospitality sector is beginning to rebound after being the hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic,â said Ben Berthelot, President and CEO of the Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission. âWe are pleased to partner with LEDA and the Cajundome to be a part of the solution to finding workers for this important piece of our economy.â
Personal Protective Equipment facility coming to Broussard

Two new PPE manufacturing facilities are planned for the Broussard area, and they re expected to create 2,200 new jobs, officials say.
Gov. John Bel Edwards joined Ochsner Health President and CEO Warner Thomas, SafeSource Direct CEO Justin Hollingsworth and other officials announces the development of two manufacturing facilities for personal protective equipment, or PPE.
Economic Development officials say the projects will create a combined 1,221 new direct jobs, and Louisiana Economic Development estimates the project will result in a combined 992 new indirect jobs, for a total of more than 2,200 new jobs.
The Cajundome Convention Center will be the destination for the Lafayette Economic Development Authority s annual job fair.
The last in-person event was held in 2019, with the event going virtual in August 2020 because of the Coronavirus pandemic.
What s New for the Job Fair in 2021?
There will be changes to the way things will look at the event as there are still a concentration on everyone s safety. Ryan Lagrange, the Manager of Workforce Development with LEDA, says they are moving things around a bit. He says they will be practicing social distancing. There will be more space in the aisles and between each booth space.

The Lafayette Economic Development Authority says that booth space is currently available for the 2021 LEDA Job Fair.
The LEDA Job Fair will take place on Wednesday, August 4, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Cajundome Convention Center in Lafayette.
In its twenty-sixth year, LEDA says the job fair is the largest job recruitment event in Acadiana with nearly 1,200 job seekers attending in 2019.
