43-year-old Robert Hebert of Lafayette is dead following a shooting Wednesday afternoon in a neighborhood in the 1800 block of E. Simcoe Street.
According to a press release from Lafayette Police, officers responded to the scene around 6:40 PM to find Hebert suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead after being transported to a local hospital.

A second victim believed to be a bystander was also shot. That victim s injury was non-life threatening and that person has been released from the hospital.
There is no information on a suspect at this time.

In a story that KPEL News brought to you on Sunday, 19-year-old Nakia Solomon of Breaux Bridge has been identified as the victim who died after being shot multiple times on in the 100 block of Ambroise Street. Another 19-year-old male was shot in an incident in the 100 block of Hebert Road.
Lafayette Police officers responded to the shooting around 12:46 p.m. In this case, the injury was non-life threatening and the victim was last listed in stable condition.
