Let me be clear here, Mayor-President Guillory is not saying don t wear a face mask. He wears one when he is supposed to wear it and when the mask isn t necessary he doesn t. But based on comments he made at a Thursday night meeting in Lafayette he doesn t feel the need for the local government to step in and force the issue. Here are Guillory s words, as reported by KATC Television, from the Thursday night meeting of the Acadiana Patriots. When I m sitting right there and I m around folks, it s my duty, my personal duty under a world pandemic, I m going to choose to wear a mask and that s what I do and that s why I carry it around. I don t need the government to tell me that and you don t either.

Guillory gives Napier key to city, speaks to Cajuns ahead of bowl game and last updated 2020-12-23 22:40:31-05 Lafayette Mayor-President Josh Guillory gave Louisiana head football coach Billy Napier the key to the City of Lafayette Wednesday. The honor was given to Napier for guiding the Cajuns to a Sun Belt Conference championship this season. Guillory also addressed the team during their practice, ahead of the Cajuns traveling to Dallas for this weekend s bowl game. As the team looked on, Guillory read the official proclamation declaring the team Sun Belt Champions. Louisiana and Coastal Carolina were set to face off for the Sun Belt title on December 19, but the game was canceled due to COVID-19 cases in Coastal Carolina s program. As a result, both teams were named Co-Champions.
