LEADING developmental investment bank, DLM Capital Group, on Wednesday announced its plans to expand into Nigeria’s million-dollar fintech sector, following its acquisition of Links Microfinance Bank.
The license will give DLM Capital Group the mandate to operate small scale banking services in the country.
This will also allow the successive launch of its star digital lending brand, Sofri, in the second quarter of the year.
The acquisition, combined with the bank’s many fintech efforts already underway, will position it to deliver even more value for corporates and consumers.

The Minister of State for Environment, Chief Sharon Ekeazor, on Wednesday, appealed to the National Assembly to speed up action on the passing into law of the bill on climate change, which has already passed second reading on the floor of the House.
Chief Ikeazor, who made this clarion call at the opening ceremony of the National Council on Environment in Abuja, said this appeal becomes imperative in order to have a legal instrument that would address the myriads of climate change actions and challenges in the country.
According to her, “ Your participation in this event is a testimony to your unwavering faith in our collective resolve to reverse all adversities in the sector and sustainably manage our environment in the face of the multiple concerns exacerbated by the novel COVID-19 pandemic.”

Britons aged 18-29 will be offered an alternative to the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine amid concerns over its possible link with reported rare cases of blood clots.
The British government’s vaccination advisory body said on Wednesday.
The announcement from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation follows a review of the Oxford jab by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency.
Currently, Britain is also rolling out the Pfizer jab, and the first doses of the Moderna vaccine were administered on Wednesday in Wales.
More than 31.6 million people have been given the first jab of the coronavirus vaccine, according to official figures.

The Military High Command on Wednesday said following the breach of security, and resultant tension that has been created by activities of some hoodlums in Akwa Ibom State, a combined team of troops and other security agencies in the State have conducted a clearance operation at Ntak Ikot Akpan area to flush out the miscreants.
This was contained in a statement made available to news men in Abuja by the Directior of the Nigeran Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Mohammed Yerima.

The National Association of Telecommunications Subscribers (NATCOMS) on Wednesday said one-month extension for the National Identification Number (NIN) registration by the Federal Government is not enough to capture all Nigerians.
Mr Adeolu Ogunbanjo, President of the association, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.
NAN reports that the Federal Government through the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) had in December 2020 directed telecommunication subscribers to obtain their NIN and link them with Subscribers Identification Module (SIM) cards.
The NCC had earlier announced April 6, as the deadline for Nigerians to link their National Identification Numbers (NINs) to their SIM cards, but the exercise was extended to May 6.
