LAGRANGE — The LaGrange County Commissioners approved a grant allowing the county to begin doling out Major Moves money to REMC as the utility builds a countywide fiber-optic network.
LAGRANGE â A Shipshewana man who police say drove the get-a-way car for a machete-wielding accomplice who was accused of robbing a Shipshewana hotel will be spending the next 10 years of his life in prison after agreeing to a plea deal with the LaGrange County Prosecutorâs Office.
Matthew David Felder, 26, of the 7600 block of North C.R. 920W, agreed to plead guilty to a charge of aiding in armed robbery, a Level 3 felony. He also agreed to plead guilty to a single charge of possession of dangerous material by an incarcerated person, a Level 4 felony, for an incident that occurred at the LaGrange County Jail. The LaGrange County Sheriffâs Department reported back in July, Felder was found in possession of a razor blade heâd fashioned into a weapon.

A 15-month-old Wolcottville, Ind., boy died Monday after being run over by a pickup in LaGrange County.
According to the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department, rescue crews were called shortly before 11:30 a.m. to the 3500 block of South 500 East near Wolcottville.
A 28-year-old Montpelier, Ohio, man who was delivering calves to the property had turned around in the large driveway and pulled the vehicle next to the barn.
After a short conversation between between the driver and the boy’s father, the driver began to back up, after checking his mirrors. Realizing the vehicle had struck an unknown object, he stopped, walked to the front passenger side, and found the boy lying on the ground, with severe injuries.
