A Brazilian meat factory worker who was found at the wheel with an out of date driving licence was last week told by Judge Seamus Hughes to “bring a box of fillet steaks” with him when his case returns before the courts later this year.

Edward Stokes (34) The Bungalow, Beechwood Park, Granard, appeared at a recent district court sitting charged with a number of alleged offences as a result of an incident at Rathcronin, Granard, Co Longford on June 5, 2020.
Among them include endangerment, the production of a steel stick, assault and dangerous driving.

A man charged in connection to a suspected stabbing in Longford last month has this evening been granted bail.
The man, who is aged in his 30s and from the Mullingar area, was brought before a special sitting of Longford District Court this evening.
He was charged with allegedly carrying out an assault on another man in the Glebe View area of Longford town on April 16 last which resulted in the victim sustaining a number of slash sounds to his left leg.

Two brothers have appeared before Longford District Court charged with engaging in sexual acts with a child under the age of 15.
The brothers, aged 19 and 20, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the victim, were both arrested and charged before being brought before Judge Seamus Hughes on Tuesday of last week.
The 19-year-old man had been arrested the previous night and brought before a special sitting of Longford District Court after he was charged with causing damage to the window and roof felt and tile of his family’s home.
