Brian Fitzpatrick: Trump violated oath, but impeachment not the answer

Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick believes this about President Donald Trump: He violated his oath of office. He drove a wedge between Americans with lies. And his presidential legacy will be inciting an attempt to overthrow the government he was elected to lead. That said, the Middletown Republican representing a deeply purple pocket of suburban Philadelphia has no regrets about voting a second time against impeaching Trump.   Like every vote he casts as a House lawmaker, it was done after careful deliberation and an analysis of the impact it would have on Americans, particularly the ones he represents back home, Fitzpatrick said.

Delco congresswoman also says her D C office s panic button was not working during Capitol insurrection

Pennsylvania s 5th District congresswoman, a Democrat covering Delaware County and parts of Philadelphia, Chester, and Montgomery counties, recounted both incidents Thursday to reporters, according to the Delco Times. Members of Congress reportedly have panic buttons installed in their offices, which the politicians or the staffs can use to alert police in the event of an emergency. Scanlon said hers was not operational during the Jan. 6 riots. Ours had not been attached, she said. I had to locate it and plug it in … it was not connected at the time it should have been. On Wednesday, the Boston Globe published an article including an interview with Sarah Groh, the chief of staff for Rep. Ayanna Pressley, a Democrat from Massachusetts. Groh told the Globe how she and other Pressley staffers barricaded themselves into their office, put on gas masks and searched for the panic buttons:

Meet Three D C Police Officers Who Fought For The U S Capitol

He had been pushed, shoved and even tased multiple times. He was alone and exhausted. Lying dazed on the marble steps leading out of the west side of the U.S. Capitol on the afternoon of Jan. 6, D.C. Police Officer Mike Fanone heard bone-chilling words coming from some of President Trump s supporters who were surrounding him. I remember guys chanting, Kill him with his own gun, says Fanone, a 19-year veteran of the Metropolitan Police Department. Fanone s experience at the Capitol after pro-Trump mobs stormed it provides a shocking insight into the threats and violence faced by D.C. police officers who rushed to the building after it was breached. Crowds turned their fury on the men in blue, spraying them with mace, throwing fire extinguishers at them, crushing them in tight hallways, and even threatening to kill them.
