The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said Friday investigators are looking into the death of a 30-year-old man at the Lawton City Jail. The man was booked into the jail early Wednesday and found unresponsive the following day, the OSBI said in a press release. LAWTON, Okla. (TNN) - The city of Lawton will be holding their second Citizens Academy in July.
The Citizens Academy is a free, interactive program meant to to familiarize citizens with the roles, services and operation that comprise the Lawton City Government.
The course spans 14 weeks, held for two hours weekly at City Hall, and includes site visits, as well as overviews of every major department within the City of Lawton.
“It is important that we take advantage of every opportunity to educate our citizens on how their tax dollars are being spent,” City Manager Michael Cleghorn said. “We are incredibly excited to start this program back up.”

LAWTON, Okla. (TNN) - Lawton honored the National Day of Prayer with two events taking place within the city.
The first was a breakfast prayer held at the Great Plains Coliseum at 7:30 a.m. and the second was a noon prayer held on the steps of Lawton City Hall.
Lawton mayor Stan Booker signed a proclamation for the day and described why he believes the day is important.
“I think we’re a nation of prayer. This is a very important day to our nation and for our community,” said Mayor Booker.
