The St. Landry Parish Sheriff s Office and St. Landry Parish Animal Control searched the property Thursday night and found the dogs in a barn. The property is connected to the home where 175 dogs were found in untenable conditions, said animal shelter director Terri Courvelle.
Although they only found 11 dogs that were all seized for assessment, Courvelle said she thinks there may have been more that were moved before authorities arrived. You could tell it was set up for many dogs hundreds and hundreds of animals, she said. There were kennels, there were wooden ramps with wooden dog houses built with holes, no hay, not straw no bedding, towels, blankets.

St. Landry Parish Officials provided an update on Friday afternoon to the case involving more than 175 dogs being removed from a home last week.
Parish President Jessie Bellard says that last week s investigation at a home on Lago Road, the vet determined that the dogs should be taken from the home because the dogs allegedly had issues including broken jaws and bulging eyes. It was a gruesome sight, Bellard said of last weeks seizure.
11 dogs were picked up on Thursday at a location in Sunset. Bellard says that at least a hundred were probably moved from the location prior to seizure. Numerous empty cages, Bellard says, indicates that more animals were removed.
