The mayor and health director announced on Wednesday, no more DHM’s. They expire this Friday.
Lincoln-Lancaster County Health director Pat Lopez says more than 68 percent of Lancaster County residents ages 16 and up have initiated vaccination and with the risk dial continuing to stay in the green, the health department is lifting the DHM’S.
“We are pleased to announce that we will allow our current directed health measure to expire at 11:59 pm this Friday, June 18,” said Lopez.

What happened: The board voted not to support the formation of a Lancaster County Health Department.
Background: Manheim Township drafted a letter two months ago urging the county commissioners to form a countywide health department. Other municipalities were asked to join in support of the request.
Why itâs important: Fulton Township supervisors unanimously opposed the idea of a countywide health department. They are against adding another level of bureaucracy and believe the ultimate cost would be charged to the municipalities.

Efforts to get youths vaccinated against COVID-19 are taking two tracks: preparing for emergency approval of one vaccine for those ages 12 to 15, and conducting clinical trials aimed at pushing the age even lower.
Food and Drug Administration approval of the Pfizer vaccine for 12- to 15-year-olds is expected by early next week. Preliminary trial results released by Pfizer found no COVID cases among fully vaccinated youths, compared with 18 cases among those given placebo shots.
Dr. Anne OâKeefe, Douglas County Health Departmentâs senior epidemiologist, said the department is working with pediatriciansâ offices to make sure the vaccine is available in as many offices as possible. Health officials know many parents will want to speak with their kidsâ doctors about the shots and that many will prefer that their children be vaccinated in those offices.
