Reading man identified as driver of stolen Berks County ambulance found in Lancaster County: report [update]

An ambulance that was stolen out of Berks County on Monday morning was found by an off-duty paramedic in Lancaster County, according to the Reading Fire Department. The ambulance was stolen at around 11:30 a.m. as paramedics were inside a Reading apartment building tending for someone who called for medical help, said Fire Chief William Stoudt Jr. The driver of the stolen vehicle was identified as Raymond Luis Gonzalez, 33, of Reading, according to a report in The Reading Eagle. Paramedics realized the ambulance had been stolen when they exited the building with the patient, Stoudt said. The theft was immediately reported, and a second ambulance was requested to transport the patient to the hospital.

A Berks County man accused of stealing a Reading ambulance told authorities he didn’t feel like stopping when troopers in Lancaster County attempted to pull him over, according to state police. Instead, Raymond Luis Gonzalez led police on a high-speed chase that ended when he crashed into a tractor trailer, police said. Gonzalez, 33, of Reading, was charged with fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, receiving stolen property, recklessly endangering another person, driving without a license and four other traffic violations in Lancaster County, court records show. He was also charged with theft by unlawful taking, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and recklessly endangering another person in Berks County.

Lancaster man threw children, wielded knife during Manor Township disturbance: police

A Lancaster man slammed two children against a bed and grabbed their mother during a domestic disturbance in Manor Township that ended with a knife being wrestled from his hands, according to Manor Township police. Roberto Carlos Cruz Aviles, 44, was charged with six counts of simple assault, two counts of endangering the welfare of children, criminal mischief and theft by unlawful taking. The altercation took place at 2:17 a.m. on April 25 in a residence in the 200 block of Talon Drive, according to an affidavit of probable cause. Cruz Aviles grabbed the 34-year-old woman by a towel wrapped around her body and pinched her, then slammed the two juvenile children onto a bed, grabbing one of them by the throat and the other by the arms in the process.

East Hempfield Township man shared child porn online: police

An East Hempfield Township man shared dozens of images of child porn online, and investigators later found more than 100 indecent images and videos on his electronic devices, according to East Hempfield Township police. Alistair Iain Welch, 32, was charged with four counts of child pornography, disseminating photos or film of child sex acts and two counts of criminal use of a communication facility. Lancaster County detectives discovered in mid-February that an IP address later traced to Welch had uploaded 38 images and videos of child porn on BitTorrent, a peer-to-peer file sharing application, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

Manheim woman entered man's home, threatened him with hammer: police

Tiffany Jo Speziali, 42, of Manheim, was charged with simple assault and terroristic threats. Speziali came to police at 5:50 p.m. on May 11 claiming she had been assaulted earlier in the day, according to an affidavit of probable cause. Speziali was bleeding from minor injuries, which she claimed were from being cut by the man. Speziali told investigators she had confronted the man, who she claimed had threatened suicide in the past, with a claw hammer as he entered his home and asked if he wanted her “to put him out of his problems,” according to the affidavit. Speziali held the hammer above her head as if she intended to hit him with it, asking him “How do you want it?”
