LSO: 190lbs of marijuana recovered from mobile home

KLKN-TV February 12, 2021 9:59 am LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office (LSO) Interdiction Task Force pulled over a motor home Thursday afternoon. LSO stopped the home for following to close near Hwy 77 and Rosa Parks Way around 1:30 p.m. Inside, 190 lbs of sealed, odor locked marijuana was found hidden in closets and under the bed. About $3,950 in cash was also recovered. The residents, 38-year-old Jerremy Manual and 29-year-old Whitney Short from Virginia, were both arrested on multiple drug charges.

Officer who since has resigned ticketed for alleged assault while working off-duty Benjamin D. Rieker resigned Jan. 26 for policy violations, acting Police Chief Brian Jackson said. Rieker, 32, had gone through the Lincoln Police Department’s Recruit Academy and been an officer for about a year and a half. Jackson said the investigation stemmed from a disturbance and possible excessive use of control. Then-Chief Jeff Bliemeister learned of the allegation Nov. 12 and ordered an investigation by the department’s internal affairs unit. “The investigation revealed department policy violations as well as a potential criminal offense,” Jackson said at a news conference Wednesday.

UPDATE: Lancaster County Missing Person Case Is Closed

By Terry Leahy Feb 3, 2021 The Lancaster County Sheriff s Office reports deputies located 28-year Dana Benitez in Lincoln Tuesday evening and no longer considers her a missing person. Investigators say she was a passenger in a pickup that slid off the road and got stuck in a ditch Sunday night in the area of U.S. Highway 34 and NW 42nd.
