Read / Add Comments A Lancaster County man was arrested for torturing a horse on Tuesday, according to the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, officials said. Mark S. Fisher, 37 of Quarryville, was arrested following an investigation conducted by the PSPCA and the Lancaster District Attorney’s office into an Aug. 30 anonymous tip of animal cruelty. The tip, stating a horse was limping, and possibly had a dislocated leg at a property in Quarryville, was left on a hotline phone to PSPCA’s Humane Law Enforcement team. During the course of the investigation officers found an underweight horse in an overgrown pasture with its ankle bent in a manner causing it to have extreme difficulty walking.

LNP newspaper reports that 69 horse-drawn buggies and a handful of vans and sport utility vehicles brought more than 100 people together Monday afternoon at the Myers Cemetery burial grounds, not far from where police say 18-year-old Linda Stoltzfoos was abducted. The remains of Stoltzfoos were found last week buried along railroad tracks in the small town of Gap along Route 41 behind a business where 35-year-old Justo Smoker had worked, authorities said. Smoker was arrested shortly after her June 2020 disappearance and charged with kidnapping and false imprisonment, and later with homicide.

Investigators searching rural Lancaster County have found human remains in the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of 18-year-old Linda Stoltzfoos, authorities announced Wednesday. Stoltzfoos was reported missing on June 21, 2020, and 34-year-old Justo Smoker was charged with her kidnapping and death last year. The Lancaster District Attorney’s Office said the coroner’s officer has been called to the scene, which they say is in a rural area in the eastern part of the county. The FBI, East Lampeter Township police and state police were all a part of the search.
