Nova Chemicals says a workplace COVID-19 outbreak was declared Friday by public health officials at the company’s Corunna site cracker expansion project.
“Two contractors have tested positive for COVID-19 and were on site within the infectious period,” company spokesperson Julia Iacovella said in an email.

Employees and contractors in direct contact with the two patients were being identified and all involved parties are working with local public health officials, she said.
“As a precaution, work has been suspended at the affected area of the construction site until the new year,” Iacovella added.
