LPSD confirms COVID cases at four locations SHARE ON: The Lloydminster Public School Division has confirmed four locations that have been impacted by COVID-19 cases. The four are College Park, Division Office, LCHS, and Winston Churchill. The cases impacted an individual at the Division office, someone in Grade 4A at College Park, someone in the Grade 10 A-K class at LCHS and someone in room 509 Grade 3 at Winston Churchill. The Saskatchewan Health Authority has notified everyone considered a close contact after conducting an investigation and communication has been shared with the school community and families. The LPSD says students in 4A at College Park should all self isolate as they’ve been determined as close contacts.  At 509 Grade 3 at Winston Churchill, they should do the same for the time being as the contact tracing investigation wraps Friday April 16th.

The distinction comes as there has been a second COVID-19 case found in an individual in the Grade 2-3 split class. When two or more cases are found in a facility or school, it’s classified as an outbreak under the Saskatchewan Health Authority’s parameters. A formal letter from the SHA about the outbreak has been shared with families and the school community, as well as uploaded to the LPSD website.

(pixabay.com) The Lloydminster Public School Division is letting the community know that the COVID-19 situation at Rendell Park School is now being classified as an outbreak. According to Saskatchewan Health Authority parameters, an outbreak is classified as two or more cases that are found in a school or facility. The LPSD says there were made aware on April 5th by health officials that a second case, impacting someone in the RK1 and RK2 classes at Rendell Park Elementary School, was found, thus the SHA call. The school division says a formal letter from the SHA has been sent to parents, the school community and posted to their website.

First Baptist Church, LPSD team up for Easter Hampers in support of families in need SHARE ON: Easter food hamper items ready to send out to LPSD families in need. [Dan Soul/106.1 The Goat] The Lloydminster Public School Division and First Baptist Church are ramping up to the Easter Weekend by feeding families in need with hamper donations. Along with a fleet of volunteers, the two organizations spent Thursday morning organizing tables of canned and boxed food to be sent out. In total, 50 hampers of necessary food supplies were able to be built from community and Olive Tree donations. The hampers then go to families who have been either identified as needing the support or ones that have reached out for assistance as well.

LPSD student nutrition program feeling the community support as demand increases SHARE ON: LPSD s nutrition program has seen some community support as demand has increased over the past few months. [Pixabay] The Lloydminster Public School Division nutrition programs, designed to keep students in need fed, has been getting an uptick in local support as demand increases. The program has received two large donations in the last week, one from CNRL totalling $6,800 and another from United Way for $10,000. This has also been compounded with more support from other local businesses hosting their own cash or food drives. This funding will be turned around fresh fruit, vegetables, whole wheat grains and breads, dairy and lean protein for the LPSD breakfast program.
