Five active COVID-19 outbreaks in Renfrew County and district, nine new positive cases today

Article content There are five current COVID-19 outbreaks in Renfrew County and district after the health unit declared two more outbreaks late Thursday afternoon. On May 6, the Renfrew County and District Health Unit confirmed COVID-19 outbreaks at a private day care in Whitewater Region and Mobility Lab in Arnprior. To date, three individuals at the day care received positive laboratory-confirmed cases of novel coronavirus 2019 with the potential for more cases to come, according to a health unit release. Article content Another resident of Renfrew County and district has died as a result of COVID-19. The Renfrew County and District Health Unit reported a sixth death related to the virus on the April 26 case summary update. No other details about the individual have been released. It has also reported 24 new positive cases since April 22 (April 26 – seven, April 25 – 11, April 24 – one and April 23 – five) and 17 additional resolved cases. As of April 26 there were 38 active cases in Renfrew County and district with four people hospitalized, including one in intensive case and 34 individuals self-isolating. Nine additional cases have also screened positive for variants of concern, bringing the total to 87.
