CANTON â The Canton Central School District, Massena Central High School and Seaway Career and Technical Education Center switched to remote instruction Tuesday after receiving notification of positive COVID-19 cases.
Canton Central School officials had initially announced that because six drivers were out, they would be fully remote Tuesday and expected to be able to return Thursday.
But on Tuesday afternoon, officials announced in a Facebook post they were notified that a member of the districtâs transportation team tested positive for COVID-19.
Roughly half of the transportation department is now unable to report to work as a result of the case and quarantines from the day prior, according to the post.
MASSENA — Village trustees have approved a memorandum of understanding with the St. Lawrence County Public Health Department to use the Massena Community Center to dispense COVID-19 vaccinations.

To spur some disengagement from virtualness, I started reading books with a partner. Once you decide on a book to read together â but separately â you each obtain a copy of that book and formulate a reasonable timeframe for completing it.
MASSENA â The St. Lawrence County Public Health Department is working with school districts on the contact tracing process for positive COVID-19 cases, and a Massena Central School Board of Education member wondered if the districtâs personnel were receiving overtime or any other compensation for their work.
âFor the concept of contact tracing that the school is doing for Public Health, I was just wondering if we could find out and get some sort of report as to the labor effort the school district employees are putting towards this end. Are we paying overtime or any sort of additional compensation to employees with regard to this work that theyâre doing for St. Lawrence County Public Health?â Kevin Perretta asked during a special board meeting last week.
