St Lawrence County Public Health: CDC, FDA calling for pause on Johnson & Johnson vaccine over clot concern

Tuesday, April 13, 2021 - 5:32 pm CANTON The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are recommending a pause in use of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine after six reported cases of a rare and severe type of blood clot in individuals after receiving the vaccine variant. The pause will allow the health care system time to prepare to treat patients appropriately, and to report severe events they may be seeing in people who have received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, said a press release from the St. Lawrence County Public Health Department. As of April 12th, more than 6.8 million doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine have been administered in the U.S.
