Two facing felony drug charges after search in Canton

CANTON — St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies arrested two people this week on felony drug charges following the execution of a search warrant in Canton. Joshua D. Martin, 41, of Canton, and Shannon N. Gilford, 29, of Harlem, were each charged Wednesday night with three counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony. Police allege the pair was in possession of 110 wax packets containing fentanyl and roughly 24 grams of crack cocaine. Police said they also found digital scales and packing material during the search. Mr. Gilford was released on appearance tickets, and Mr. Martin was remanded to St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, for violating conditions of parole.

(WWNY) - An investigation that had been underway for several months has ended with an arrest and the seizure of hundreds of pounds of marijuana and more than $1 million in cash. Members of the Metro-Jefferson Drug Task Force raided a home at 25871 County Route 59 in the town of Brownville on Wednesday. Officials arrested 46 year old Jerry Segouin, who lives at that address. During the search of Segouin’s home as well as a nearby property belonging to a relative, officials seized approximately 288 pounds of marijuana, a 12 gauge shotgun, a .22 caliber rifle, and approximately $1.35 million in cash (see photos below). According to officials, $700,00 of that cash was being stored in a beverage cooler.

DEXTER — There were more questions than answers Thursday after police announced they hauled $1.35 million in cash and nearly 300 pounds of marijuana out of a white double-wide home on North Shore Road the day before. Police said the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Metro-Jeff Drug Task Force, after an investigation that spanned months, executed a search warrant on the 25871 County Route 59 property owned by Jerry A. Segouin on Wednesday. The property is just off West Main Street. Police found 288 pounds of marijuana and $1.35 million in cash on the property. They also seized a 12-gauge shotgun and a .22-caliber rifle, which Mr. Segouin is prohibited from owning because of past criminal convictions.

(WWNY) - The St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Hammond man on meth charges early Thursday morning. Francis Baker, 46, is facing charges of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th degree and Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 5th degree. Both are felonies. Baker was arraigned and jailed at the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with no bail set. Authorities say Baker has two prior felony convictions. Sheriff’s deputies say the investigation is ongoing and Baker will appear in court at a later date.
