Both tax issues help fund the department s $815,000 annual budget.
Stewart said if the two tax issues are not renewed it will be a loss of $370,000. That will definitely change our operations, he said.
The issues were the only ones on Tuesday s special election ballot in Stark County.
Asked why the voters rejected the tax issues, Stewart said he believes voters remain upset with township officials for not renewing a contract with North Lawrence Volunteer Fire Department. We tried to renew the contract. We couldn t come to terms, Stewart said.

The Repository
Tuesday meeting
KEY ACTION: Agreed to a mutual aid agreement with the North Lawrence Volunteer Fire Department for fire and emergency services.
DISCUSSION: The one-year renewable contract calls for both departments to provide assistance to each other at emergency calls if needed. Under the terms of the agreement, both North Lawrence and the city agree not to bill the other for any services provided, but both retain the right to bill the person or business or their respective insurance companies for any aid provided. The agreement was approved under suspension of the rules and on its first reading.

CANAL FULTON, Ohio (WOIO) - Canal Fulton firefighters say they are understaffed and underpaid, sometimes being forced to run medical calls without a paramedic on duty.
âEverythingâs tumbled like, nothings handled, nothings ever done and everywhere else in the city is protected by the Union, they have unions,â said one firefighter who wanted to remain anonymous. âThe fire department is the only one that does not have a union.â
