NIAGARA, Wis. Niagara native Andy Graff is drawing attention while making his mark as a first-time novelist.
Graff, son of Kevin and Nina Graff, serves on the faculty, is an English department faculty member at Wittenberg University in Ohio.
He recently had his debut novel “Raft of Stars” published, which has drawn critical acclaim from nearly all corners of the literary world.
In getting to where he is today, Graff took a round-about path to becoming an author. After graduating from Niagara High School in 2000, he joined the Air Force just before the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.
He served a term in Afghanistan as an aircraft mechanic. After his discharge, Graff went to a technical school with plans to become a paramedic. However, fate entered the picture and he decided to pursue his dream of becoming a writer.

ESCANABA Members of Holy Name Catholic School’s Class of 2017, who will be graduating from high school this spring, visited Holy Name on Thursday, April 8 and attended a special Mass celebrated by Father Robb Jurkovich, chaplain at OSF St. Francis Hospital & Medical Group.
