Gastonia Police talk traffic stops with Black leaders
As Hunter Huss head football coach Randy Thompson listened to Gastonia Police officers talk about their view of executing traffic stops his mind wandered a bit to the players he mentors on the field. For a lot of my kids, they have only had negative experiences from the police and we know that they re not all bad but that is the perception, Thompson said.
Thompson heard from the officers at a community event Saturday held at Tabernacle Baptist Church involving community leaders and police officers. He said he appreciated officers being willing to share their experiences and what goes through their minds during traffic stops.
