LOS ANGELES: China and the United States can jointly tackle problems in three areas – the Covid-19 pandemic, climate change and the world’s economic recovery – and many more if they cooperate and engage in dialogue, China’s diplomat in Southern California said.
Speaking at a webinar organised by the Pacific Council on International Policy, China’s Consul General in Los Angeles Zhang Ping called on the US to help solve disputes between the world’s two largest economies, accept the reality of China’s development and reach peaceful coexistence with China.
Zhang also shared his thoughts about how it was possible for the two nations to cope with differences in their social systems and ideologies and still get along.

Different social systems and ideologies should not stand in the way of peaceful coexistence of China and the United States, Chinese Consul General in Los Angeles Zhang Ping said, adding that the two countries can cooperate on many pressing tasks.
Zhang made the remarks on Tuesday at a webinar organized by the Pacific Council on International Policy, headquartered in Los Angeles, California, according to a news release issued by China s Consulate General in Los Angeles on Wednesday.
While noting the positive interactions between China and the United States since the Biden administration took office, Zhang said in his opening remarks that China-U.S. relations remain difficult and tense in some areas as a result of the U.S. side taking a series of negative actions recently.
