Lincoln COVID-19 restrictions loosen on Friday | NewsRadio 1110 KFAB

By Julia Bertino Some COVID-19 restrictions in Lincoln will be loosened on Friday. On Thursday, the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department announced the changes to the local Directed Health Measure. The changes will take effect at 12:01 a.m. Friday, December 18th. The following measures to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 will be in effect through January 15, 2021: Restaurants, bars and other food service establishments: Alcohol sales for on-site consumption may resume for bars that do not sell food. Parties must consist of eight or fewer individuals, and the parties must remain at least six feet apart. Occupancy is limited to 50 percent of capacity.

Five COVID deaths reported in Lancaster County

(KLKN) – Officials with the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department (LLCHD) report five more COVID deaths for the county, bringing the community total to 133. The individuals have been identified as two women in their 80s and 90s who were hospitalized, two women in their 80s and 90s who were in long-term care facilities, and a woman in her 40s who had underlying health conditions. Additionally, 115 new COVID-19 cases were reported, pushing the community total to 20,592.

(KLKN) Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird and the local health department hold a press conference to update the community on our coronavirus cases and new Direct Health Measures (DHM). Although the COVID-19 Risk Dial, remains in the red, Lancaster County has seen its first decline in new coronavirus cases since the week of Sept. 19. Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Director Pat Lopez said, “We’ve gone from an all-time high of 2112 cases the week ending December 5 down to 1430 cases last week, a decline of about 32%.” But, Director Lopez cautions that our coronavirus number still remains high, but it’s an optimistic sign.
