COVID-19 update: Greater Sydney lockdown extended as NSW records 27 new cases
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced the restrictions in Greater Sydney would continue for an extra week as the extremely transmissible and more contagious Delta strain continues to spread through the community.

New South Wales has recorded 27 new coronavirus cases as Premier Gladys Berejiklian confirmed the lockdown in Greater Sydney will be extended another week.
Ms Berejiklian on Wednesday said the government made the difficult decision to extend the shutdown as only 13 of the new cases were in isolation for the entirety of their infectious period.
