Vaccines soon available for older N K residents

NORTH KINGSTOWN — As COVID-19 vaccines continue to be rolled out across the Ocean State, many people have questions about the process.  Before any business was addressed during the North Kingstown Town Council meeting on Monday night, Council President Gregory Mancini addressed these concerns.  During the public comment part of the meeting Mancini discussed how he has had many people ask him questions and share their frustration regarding when they will be receiving their vaccination.  “Based on what I am learning everyday, it is clear to me that the COVID vaccination process is very confusing and very frustrating,” Mancini stated. “I have observed how our town and other towns are dealing with this crisis and I want the citizens of North Kingstown to know that I am more confident than ever that our town government is doing everything it can to ensure that those who are eligible in our community that want vaccinations will get vaccinations as soon as po

Ringwood awarded Plastic Free Communities status

The town has been awarded Plastic Free Communities Status by marine conservation charity Surfers Against Sewage. Campaign group Ringwood Actions for Climate Emergency (RACE) has got 26 local businesses to sign up to the project - but needs more to help reduce waste. “Each of the 26 businesses or organisations signed up has eliminated at least three items of single use plastic, and is working to eliminate others,” said Lindsay Andrews, who is leading on the project. “But we have set ourselves a target of 50 businesses and organisations. Bar owners file new lawsuit against Gov Cooper for severely restricted executive order

Some bar owners say there s very little to toast this holiday season. Those in the small business sector feel they ve been singled out and treated unfairly during the pandemic. Some are fighting back. The owner of Raleigh s Dueling Piano Bar has joined a group of North Carolina bar owners who have filed a new lawsuit against Governor Roy Cooper. It says the current executive order is so severely restricted that it s unprofitable to operate and Gov. Cooper is depriving owners of their right to earn a living. The suit points out that, restaurants, private clubs, breweries, wineries, and distilleries have been allowed to open and operate for onsite indoor consumption of alcohol, while bars have been limited.
