Libya and Egypt sign telecommunication, technology, and technical training agreements

London, 23 April 2021: A high-level Egyptian delegation headed by Amr Talaat Egyptian Minister of Communications and Information Technology visited Libya on Tuesday 20th April 2021. The visit was part of the visit to Tripoli by Egyptian prime minister Mustafa Madbouly. During the visit, a ceremony was held where several agreements were signed between Libya and Egypt in the field of communications, technology, and training. Prior to the signing of agreements, an initial meeting was held between the Chairman of Libyan Post Telecommunications & Information Technology Company (LPTIC), Faisel Gergab, and Minister Talaat during which both parties reviewed the telecom sectors in their respective countries and discussed ways of cooperation.

London, 7 April 2021: Libya hopes to benefit from Maltese expertise in the field of IT, training, and qualifications. The news was revealed after yesterday’s meeting between Faisel Gergab, Chairman of Libyan Post Telecommunications & Information Technology Company (LPTIC), with a Maltese delegation at the LPTIC’s Tripoli headquarters which was held within the framework of cooperation between the two countries in various fields, including cooperation in the telecommunication sector. The Maltese delegation included Clyde Caruana the Maltese Minister of Finance and Employment, and Brian Zara, the Maltese Consul in Libya. The meeting discussed the transition from traditional systems to modern systems by working on e-government and e-payment projects to increase the speed of Libya’s digital transformation, as well as training and development through the newly launched ICT Academy project.

LPTIC considers cooperation with British companies in future telecommunications projects

London, 16 March 2021: A meeting was held yesterday between the Chairman of the Libyan Post Telecommunications & Information Technology Company (LPTIC), Faisel Gergab and Lydie Sheehan, the Country Director for British Trade Relations in Libya and Tunisia. The LPTIC reported that the meeting discussed ”the importance of cooperation between the two countries in the field of telecommunications and technology and the opening of new horizons for development and investment in the sector in Libya. The meeting also discussed how British telecommunication companies can contribute to LPTIC’s strategic plan and future projects”. It also reported that at the meeting, ”both parties reviewed the active role that LPTIC and its subsidiaries play in developing the telecommunication sector in Libya”.
