Taipei, June 4 (CNA) The heavy rain that pelted much of Taiwan on Friday helped raise the water levels of some reservoirs but did little to replenish water reserves in central and southern Taiwan, according to a Water Resources Agency (WRA) official.
Wang Yi-feng (王藝峰), deputy director-general of the WRA, said the rainfall was concentrated mainly in Keelung and the Greater Taipei area, although parts of Yilan County, Taoyuan and Taichung also saw some rain during the day.

Taipei, June 4 (CNA) The iconic Taipei 101 skyscraper displayed LED messages Friday to thank Japan for donating 1.24 million doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, which arrived earlier in the day, to help Taiwan contain the pandemic.
Taipei Financial Center Corp. (TFCC), which owns the landmark Taipei 101, said the intention was to honor the friendship between the two countries and show the gratitude of the Taiwanese people.
Taipei, June 2 (CNA) To encourage consumers to buy groceries online amid the growing COVID-19 outbreak in Taiwan, a Ministry of Economic Affairs website with links to 26 traditional markets around Taiwan that offer shopping and delivery services online will be expanded to include as many as 50 markets, the MOEA's Central Taiwan Office said Wednesday.
