Deadly home invasion suspect had been free because of a suspended sentence

CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. It has been a little more than a week since the main suspect in the killing of a Caroline woman, Michael Lee Barlow, shot himself following a police chase that began in Goochland and ended in Albemarle County.
He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Barlow had a criminal history dating back to 2010, with previous charges in Hanover, Henrico, Clarke, and Louisa counties.
In June 2019, Barlow was indicted by a Richmond grand jury and charged with felony strangulation.
A lot of people are a little afraid to go to the dentist, and some are very afraid. But Carla Trost was the kind of hygienist who could put them all at ease.
âShe had a way with patients that I have never seen with a hygienist,â said dentist Jodie Meredith, who worked with Trost at Hanover Family Dentistry in Mechanicsville.
And that was only one of the things that made Trost special to her patients and colleagues. She also loved to sew and made caps for everyone to wear at work, even a Snoopy one for Meredith, a huge fan of âPeanutsâ characters. Always frugal, Trost would hunt for deals on equipment and supplies to make sure the dental practice didnât pay too much. She even got married during a dental conference in Las Vegas with many of her co-workers there.

CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. (WWBT) - Police say one suspect involved in a deadly home invasion that occurred in Caroline County is dead after shooting himself. A second suspect has been arrested for the crime. According to police, the suspects led officers on a pursuit before crashing a vehicle.
A suspect in the Saturday shooting death of a Caroline County woman ended his own life during a police pursuit in Albemarle County early Monday morning.
Michael Lee Barlow, 30, of Montpelier in Hanover County, shot himself at approximately 5:30 a.m. after a Caroline County deputy sideswiped his Ford Escape SUV and forced it to come to a halt off of Interstate 64 in the Charlottesville area.
Barlow was pronounced dead at the scene.
He had been charged with capital murder, attempted capital murder, armed robbery, breaking and entering, grand larceny, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and use of a firearm in commission of a felony prior to his death.
