Police lay charges after puppy deliberately set alight – Lurnea
A man will face court today charged after a puppy was allegedly deliberately set alight at a unit in Sydney’s south-west today.
Just after 3.20am (Friday 14 May 2021), emergency services were called to a unit on Wonga Road, Lurnea, after reports of a unit fire.
Officers from Liverpool City Police Area Command attended, along with Fire and Rescue NSW.
The blaze, which had caused significant damage to the unit, was extinguished.
A six-month old puppy was found in a cage on the balcony, suffering severe burns after allegedly being set alight. The puppy was subsequently humanly euthanised by police.

Police charge man after assaulting ambulance officer – Sadleir
A man will face court today charged after allegedly assaulting an ambulance officer in Sydney’s south west last night.
About 9.55pm (Tuesday 4 May 2021), NSW Ambulance officers attended a unit on Celebration Road, Sadleir, after receiving a call for medical assistance.
As the male ambulance officer was treating the man, the 71-year-old patient allegedly struck him in the face with an open hand.
Police were called to the scene, where a short time later officers attached to Liverpool City Police Area Command arrested the man.
After undergoing a medical assessment at Liverpool Hospital under police guard, the man was taken to Liverpool Police Station.
Police are investigating after two men were assaulted during a home invasion at Liverpool overnight.
About 10.40pm (Thursday 29 April 2021), officers attached to Liverpool City Police Area Command were called to a unit on Tindall Avenue, Liverpool, following reports of a home invasion.
Police were told five people forced entry to the unit and assaulted two male occupants, before personal items were stolen.
When officers arrived at the scene, they located five people in a vehicle nearby.
They all attempted to flee on foot, before officers arrested four men – two aged 29, one aged 30 and one aged 40 – and a 27-year-old woman. They were taken to Liverpool Police Station.
