State Representative Bob Bezotte held his first online office hours which focused largely on vaccines.
The Marion Township Republican was joined by Livingston County Health Department Director Diane McCormick and Medical Director Dr. Juan Marquez, Friday afternoon. Bezotte fielded several questions from constituents, many of which were concerned about all-things COVID vaccine.
He said heâs taken dozens and dozens of calls from frustrated seniors, while expressing his own frustration at the CDCâs Social Vulnerability Index that the state has begun using to determine allocation numbers. He pointed to being put in the same high-risk MI Safe Start District with Oakland, Wayne and Macomb counties last year. Bezotte said they didnât agree with it, but went along, with it affecting small businesses and schools. Livingston County Commissioners are âappalledâ at the metric being used which allocates fewer COVID vaccines to the county than any other in Michigan.
At the Boardâs online meeting, this week, Livingston County Health Department Director Dianne McCormick updated officials on vaccination efforts. Based on her estimates, there are 41,000 local residents eligible to be vaccinated in the two open phases. Since late December, the county has received 4,300 first doses, 1,300 second doses, and is expected to have 1,100 more first doses delivered this week. If those numbers feel low, it doesnât appear that they will get much better soon.

PONTIAC – Twenty-three residents of Livingston County and one inmate at Pontiac Correctional Center (PCC) have tested positive for COVID-19 (coronavirus disease). Livingston County Health Department (LCHD) officials were notified of the new COVID-19 cases between February 6-8, 2021 in accordance with state and local public health protocol. LCHD officials continue to work closely with the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), and have investigated and notified any individuals who may have had exposure to these individuals who tested positive for COVID-19.
As of February 8, 2021, the LCHD has received 68,475 COVID-19 test results. Of that, 4,010 COVID-19 tests have been positive, 64,465 tests were negative, 3,853 of the previously reported cases have been removed from isolation, 85 cases remain active, and, sadly, 72 cases have resulted in death due to complications related to COVID-19.
