January 2, 2021 A child from North Carolina was killed in a crash Friday night in Livingston County. The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were dispatched at approximately 11pm to northbound US-23, south of M-59, on the report of a single vehicle crash with possible injuries.   A preliminary investigation indicated that a 36-year-old male resident of Fayetteville, North Carolina was operating a 2006 Ford Expedition northbound when he lost control of the vehicle causing it to leave the roadway and strike several trees.  The driver s 33-year-old wife, 8-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter were in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Officials say at about 11 p.m. on Jan. 1, a 36-year-old man from Fayetteville, North Carolina lost control of a vehicle while driving northbound on US-23, south of Highland Road. The 2006 Ford Expedition reportedly left the roadway and struck several trees. UPDATE: According to authorities, the man’s 33-year-old wife, 8-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter were passengers in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Police say the 4-year-old girl was ejected from the vehicle during the crash and died at the scene.

Livingston County Sheriff s Deputies spread holiday cheer at hospitals, nursing homes

The sheriff s office and area first responders decorated for the holidays and drove their holiday cheer around to nursing homes and Noyes Hospital in Dansville as part of Operation Light it Up. The hospital took a video and posted it on social media. The light show lasted for about 10 minutes per location so everyone inside had a chance to enjoy it. WHMI 93 5 Local News : Woman Rescued After Falling Through Thin Lake Ice

December 18, 2020 By Jon King / jking@whmi.com Firefighters rescued a local woman Thursday after she fell through thin ice on an area lake. The Brighton Area Fire Authority says they received a call for a person through the ice on Big Crooked Lake just after 5:30pm. The victim, identified as a middle-age female from Genoa Township, was reportedly in the water approximately 75 feet from shore. Chief of Training Greg Mowbray says first arriving crews were on scene within five minutes. After crews dressed out in cold water rescue suits, two “water rescuers” made entry onto the partially frozen lake and were able to keep the woman afloat and secured to them while additional on-scene rescuers were able to extract all three using safety tethers.

First responders to spread holiday cheer tonight with Operation Light It Up | Local News

Livingston County first responders are scheduled to visit area nursing homes, assisted living facilities and Noyes Memorial Hospital tonight on what they are calling “Operation Light It Up.” The mission, organized by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, will find members of the Sheriff’s Office, police, fire and ems stopping at the facilities and lighting up the night with the vehicles’ safety lights. Santa Claus is also expected to accompany the group and Christmas music will be played. “This is our way of letting all these seniors know we are thinking of them and here for them,” Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty said in a Facebook post this week.
