CPD, LCSO to be in one location starting May 10

CPD, LCSO to be in one location starting May 10 Chillicothe News A Joint Law Enforcement Center for the Chillicothe Police Department (CPD) and Livingston County Sheriff s Office (LCSO) will open May 10.  Police Chief Jon Maples and Sheriff Steve Cox brought the idea to the city council and county commission, and with the approval of both, the agencies will be located in one place starting May 10.  Both agencies will be located in the CPD will not move; however, the LCSO will now be located at 919 Jackson St.,  the southern portion of the building the CPD is housed in. Entry to both agencies will be through the north side of the building where the public currently accesses the CPD.

WHMI 93 5 Local News : Competency Exam Ordered For Suspect In MSP Shooting

April 28, 2021 By Jon King / jking@whmi.com A competency exam has been ordered for a Grand Rapids man shot earlier this month in Howell Township by a Michigan State Police trooper. 20-year-old Tristan Stavedahl was shot April 16th on Milett Road, north of North Burkhart Road by a Detective Trooper with the Livingston and Washtenaw Narcotics Enforcement Team (LAWNET) who was in the area searching for a car theft suspect. State Police say that Stavedahl was armed when he encountered the trooper, who opened fire. Officials have not said if Stavedahl fired on the trooper first, or what actions he took prior to being shot. A press release issued after the incident only said that Stavedahl was armed and shot after a brief encounter. Stavedahl was taken to U of M Hospital for treatment, but has since been released and is lodged in the Livingston County Jail.

WHMI 93 5 Local News : Fowlerville Man Heads To Trial In Hit & Run Of Iosco Teen

April 28, 2021 By Jon King / jking@whmi.com A Fowlerville man has been bound over for trial after being charged in a hit and run incident last year that left an Iosco Township teen seriously injured. 25-year-old Joseph Lee Ackerman was charged in December with Failure to Stop at the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Serious Impairment or Death. The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office says Ackerman was driving a Ford F-350 on the evening of July 26th, 2020 when he hit 17-year-old Lewis Higgins as he walked on Bull Run Road. A witness told deputies that the truck’s driver initially stopped after hitting Lewis but then left the scene. Higgins suffered serious injuries that included broken bones in his feet and legs and a fractured pelvis.
