LAKE JACKSON â A long-awaited sigh of relief came over CHI St. Luke Health Brazosport employees as they received the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine Wednesday.
Vice President of Patient Care Services Shannon Haltom felt Christmas morning came early with the arrival of 500 of the newly approved vaccine designated for health care professionals.

ANGLETON â As the COVID-19 vaccine is being shipped out, UTMB Health Angleton Danbury Campus, Community Health Network and CHI St. Lukeâs Health Brazosport are anticipating deliveries of several hundred doses of the Moderna vaccine this week, officials said.
Both UTMB and CHI hospitals are slated to receive 500 doses at their Brazoria County facilities, officials said.
âThey have been allocated already to healthcare providers on this campus,â said Tonya Visor, communications manager for the Angleton hospital.
Hospital officials do not know what day theyâll receive the delivery, but they anticipate it will be this week, and theyâll start distributing the vaccines to their staff members that same day, Visor said.
LAKE JACKSON â An 85-year-old man crashed into a Lake Jackson house this morning and was pronounced dead after, police said.
No one in the house was injured, according to a news release from Lake Jackson Police Sgt. Roy Welch.
The man was driving east in the 100 block of Lake Road when the silver Chevrolet Silverado left the road and crashed into a house at the intersection of Lake Road and Cacao Street, according to the release. There is significant damage to the house.
Lake Jackson Emergency Medical Services took the 85-year-old Brazoria man to CHI St. Lukeâs Health Brazosport, where he was pronounced dead, the release states. Police have not determined the cause of death, Welch said.Â
