‘It felt no different than any other vaccine’: St. Luke’s to vaccinate thousands this weekend

Thousands of health care workers this weekend are expected to receive the COVID-19 vaccine at three St. Luke’s University Health Network campuses with more to come soon, a network spokesman said.
Sam Kennedy, spokesman for St. Luke’s, said about 5,000 doses are secured at the health care network at minus 70 degrees Celsius. Employees at the Anderson in Bethlehem Township; Bethlehem area; and Sacred Heart in Allentown are all slated to receive the vaccinations this weekend, with nurses expected to administer six shots every 10 minutes.
Jamie Feick, a Lehigh Valley Health Network MedEvac flight nurse who is regularly stationed at LVH-Schuylkill, is given an injection of the Pfizer BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine by Tanya Wagner, RN with Lehigh Valley Health Network, on Friday at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill E. Norwegian Street. Feick was the first person in Schuylkill County to receive the vaccine, outside of those part of the clinical trials.

Warren County extends hours at COVID-19 testing site to meet increased demand

The Warren County COVID-19 Patient Testing Center is staffed by 40 county employees and St. Luke s volunteers. The testing center opened on April 8, 2020, for county residents only. The testing site is located on the campus of Warren County Technical School. Saed Hindash | For lehighvalleylive.com

Increase demand at Warren County’s drive-through COVID-19 testing site means the county will expand the site’s hours and availability of the call center that helps schedule appointments.
The site opened Dec. 1, and offers testing on Tuesdays and Fridays with St. Luke’s University Health Network at the Belvidere Health Center, 187 County Route 519 in White Township.

Northeast digs out after deadly winter snowstorm
At least five people died as a winter storm swept through the Northeast this week, resulting in treacherous road conditions. Some major cities received more snow than they ve had in years.
In New York, police responded to more than 600 accidents. A deadly pileup in central Pennsylvania on Wednesday involved more than 60 vehicles. A Spirit Airlines flight slid off the runway in Maryland. Binghamton, New York, had a record 41 inches of snow. Last night s storm was just as serious as we anticipated, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf said.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo urged residents to stay home. I m telling you it s not safe and you shouldn t be out there, he said.
