The vaccinations, offered on the mall s ground level Food Court entrance, near the Williams-Sonoma store, are available to the public Thursday, May 6 from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. On Friday and Saturday morning, vaccinations will resume at 11 a.m. and be carried out until 8 p.m.  These free COVID-19 vaccinations are possible due to the efforts of the St. George Fire Department, Baton Rouge Fire Department, and the Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal. 

Port City Fest marks first major event

SHREVEPORT, La - The City of Shreveport says hosting Bayou Classic and Port City Fest was the first big step to rebuilding the local economy. “We are looking at 2021 to be a revitalization year for our city,” said Mayor Adrian Perkins.“Our community has been forced to overcome unprecedented challenges over the past year. As we make tremendous gains in our fight against COVID-19, we must prepare for the future and build a stronger financial outlook for our citizens.” City officials say the Port City Fest events like Party on the Red hosted by Rho Omega & Friends and the Classic Business Expo organized by the Shreveport-Bossier African American Chamber of Commerce garnered more than 4,000 attendees with no major incidents.

(KPLC) - A Mamou man has been arrested after being accused of trying to set a house on fire with a woman and three children still inside, according to the Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal. Around 3 p.m. on Friday, April 9, 2021, the Evangeline District 1 Fire Department responded to a residence on J J St. in Mamou after receiving a report of a house fire. Once on scene, firefighters learned that a woman and her three children were still inside the home. Firefighters say James N. Rozas, 33, then approached them and admitted that he’d set the house and vehicle on fire.
