Louisiana Tech University’s College of Engineering and Science held its annual Senior Projects Conference on Friday, May 7.
The Senior Projects Conference is the culmination of the College of Engineering and Science (COES) senior capstone experience – a yearlong series of hands-on and independent study courses in which students develop solutions to real-world problems and create innovative products.
The 2021 Senior Projects Conference was like no other, both in that it was the first to be held in the Integrated Engineering and Science Building (IESB) and in that seniors had to get creative in developing safe ways to collaborate with their teams and their project advisors early on.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) - On this weekâs episode of Timâs Two Cents, we sit down with University of Southern Mississippi pitching coach Christian Ostrander.
Ostrander is in his fourth year with the Golden Eagles, and this season, his pitching staff is among the national leaders in:
Strikeouts-to-walks-ratio (4.53 Ks per walk), first
Walk-per-nine-innings (2.20 per nine innings), second
WHIP (1.11 walks & hits per inning), fifth
ERA (3.35 earned run average), 11th.
Test site details
Once on site, those being tested will need to wear a mask and stay in their cars.
For those ages 13 and older, the site will use a self-administered nasal swab test that will allow those being tested to swab their own nose on site while in their vehicles. Those being tested will drop the sealed sample into a container on their way out of the drive-thru site.
Parents will administer tests to their children ages 12 and younger.
While awaiting results, individuals who have been tested should follow CDC guidelines and take steps to help prevent the virus from spreading to people in their home and community.
Registration is now open for the Louisiana Afterschool Virtual Conference, which will take place Thursday, May 13 to Saturday, May 15.
With generous support from the Mott Foundation, the Louisiana Department of Education, 21st Century Community Learning Centers Program, and the Science and Technology Center at Louisiana Tech University, this virtual conference offers sessions encompassing three distinct themes: self-care, continuing education and STEM.
“The conference is targeting all afterschool professionals,” said Andrew Ganucheau, director for the Louisiana Center for Afterschool Learning. “This includes all afterschool frontline staff – certified teachers, para professionals and program administration.”
This free conference offers six sessions that are comprised of continuing education units, including ones that include STEM information.
