BATON ROUGE, La. – The Louisiana Department of Education today named the 2021 Students of the Year and honored all 21 regional finalists for the prestigious award during a virtual ceremony. This year’s state winners are Luka George Mikaberidze from Caddo Parish Schools and Zoe Alessandra Dieringer and Raedan Daniel Stephens from St. Tammany Parish Schools.
“Congratulations to Luka, Zoe and Raedan for being named Louisiana Students of the Year. I’m proud to have them represent our state,” said State Superintendent of Education Dr. Cade Brumley. “These young leaders have excelled at the highest levels among their peers and are an example of the level of education available in Louisiana.”

BATON ROUGE, La. – Today the Louisiana Department of Education released the names of 21 students selected as finalists in the state’s annual Students of the Year competition. The 21 students selected include one elementary, middle and high school student from each of the state’s seven regions. The finalists represent traditional public, public charter and nonpublic schools. The finalists will participate in a virtual ceremony on April 21, when the winners will be announced for each grade level.
“I’m proud of each of these finalists and would be honored to have any of them represent us as a Louisiana Student of the Year,” said State Superintendent of Education Dr. Cade Brumley. “Their achievements and hard work are proof that Louisiana’s children are as capable as any in the nation.” Public and nonpublic schools were asked to submit one candidate from their student body.

Bossier Schools is celebrating news that one of its best and brightest has advanced as finalist in the Louisiana Student of the Year annual competition.
Kylie Small is an eighth-grader at Haughton Middle School and is one of seven students from around the state to be selected as finalist. The Bossier Parish Middle School Student of the Year competed recently at the regional level, which determined her finalist status at the state level.
Students are selected based on criteria that measure academic achievement, leadership skills, character and service to their schools and communities. Small serves as a Red Jacket ambassador at her school and captain of the cheerleading team, as well as an NCA All-American cheerleader.
