Suspect fatally wounded during incident
A San Luis Obispo Police officer was fatally wounded, and a second seriously injured while serving a warrant Monday.
San Luis Obispo officials say it happened at an apartment complex on Camellia Court.
Details of what happened, including the names of the officers, haven t been released yet. Officials say a suspect in the shooting was fatally wounded.
San Luis Obispo City Manager Derek Johnson called it a tragedy beyond measure for all who serve, and care about the community. Our deepest condolences go out to the family, said Johnson. We are devastated by the loss, he added.
The San Luis Obispo Police Department is mourning the loss of one of their own this morning. Authorities say it happened at around 5:20 p.m. yesterday. Two officers were serving a search warrant at an apartment complex on Camellia Court near South Higuera Street. Both officers were shot. One officer died, the other was last reported to be in stable condition. The suspect died at the scene. San Luis Obispo City Manager Derek Johnson said “This is a tragedy beyond measure for all of those who serve and care about our community.” The names of the officers and suspect have not been released. An investigation is ongoing.
