The St. Louis County and St. Louis City guidelines align with the CDC s announcement on Thursday, May 13, stating that people who are at least two weeks out from their final vaccine against COVID-19 may shed masks when in public and in small groups of other vaccinated people. Individuals are still required to wear masks in some situations, such as when traveling by plane or other public transportation.

The CDC said Thursday that adults fully vaccinated from the coronavirus could safely resume activities indoors and outdoors without masks or distancing. The federal health officials said that advice applied to both large and small gatherings.
City and county officials announced that masks would no longer be required in most places and lifted restrictions on crowd sizes for public accommodations, large venues and other spaces where people gather. St. Louis County is still recommending that people wear masks when they are close to people who may not have been vaccinated.
St. Louis County and the city of St. Louis are lifting the mask mandates for vaccinated people along with most other public-health orders in the St. Louis region as of Friday, following new guidance from federal health authorities. Businesses can still individually decide whether to require masks, however.
“Get vaccinated and you have the ability to shed your mask,” said County Executive Sam Page in a joint press conference with St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones at St. Louis City Hall. “Businesses have the ability to continue to require masks if they want to, and it’s time to get vaccinated.”
